Think as far back as you can recall:

Think as far back as you can recall:

Remember when we were kids, and we were asked to draw a picture for, let’s say, our parents?

We dove in unabashedly, with our stick figure drawings, wild interpretations of things and joyfully ‘colored outside the lines.’

We didn’t worry if it would be “good enough” or what others would think of it, we just created things.

It’s interesting how we manage to go from that, to perfectionism, isn’t it?

A couple years ago, I heard someone say something to the effect of, “people become perfectionist because that’s what they needed to do to feel safe” 💡

It’s unsurprising that so many of us become this way. The reality IS, society REWARDS perfectionism. It’s so deeply embedded in our social norm that even those who are constantly saying how much they hate perfectionism are the first to reward it.

Society: “Be Yourself!”

Also society: “No, NOT like that!”

Society: “Don’t be afraid to try”

Also Society: Rushes in at lightning speed to criticize everything they possibly can about anyone who is attempting literally anything

It’s amazing how much we, as human beings, allow the opinions of people who hate themselves, penetrate our world.

So on this fine day, join me in reconnecting with that part of ourselves that freely does things in joy, without the burden of what someone with a chip on their shoulder will think.

Its the most liberating gift we can give ourselves, isn’t it? ✨

HAVE YOU STAYED IN A BED & BREAKFAST? 🍳

I’ve stayed in a myriad of accommodations over the years. From shared Air BnB’s & shared overnight train cars to ‘high end’ resorts and 5 star white glove luxury hotels.

If we’ve been connected for any length of time or you read my blog, then you know: my LOVE for Bed & Breakfasts is unwavering!

Where the comfort of home meets a luxury boutique hotel. The environment is more intimate, quiet and cozy! You wake up daily to a hot, home cooked breakfast. Your innkeepers are invested in you making the most of your visit, providing their insight as a resource.

📍Beaujolais Boutique B&B at Thea’s House is my home away from home in Banff National Park now.

The owners provide snow cleats, hiking poles and backpacks among other things, complimentary, if desired!

Bonus: they used to own a fine French restaurant in Banff for over 36 years, so get ready for a spectacular breakfast! 🍳

You can always book this stay in the future in my ‘Canada’ story highlights or on my site. Have you ever stayed in a Bed & Breakfast?

I DON’T SNOW BUNNY OFTEN ….

Open
I DON’T SNOW BUNNY OFTEN ….

… but when I do, it’s always a blizzard of good times (ba-dum-ching!) 🌨️❄️

A $10 shuttle ride from downtown Banff to Lake Louise will deliver you to maximum winter wonderland surroundings.

By mere observation, I’ve deduced the array of activities you can partake in:

• Ice skate or attempt to ice skate ⛸️
• Saunter around in your winter best with a ($6) hot cocoa in hand ☕️
• indiscriminately pose for the ‘gram in front of a giant ice sculpture of a castle 🧊
• Snow shoe, sled, or take a carriage ride
• Gather everyone you’re with, go off in the distance & attempt to make an igloo
• Seek warmth, shelter and/or high tea in the Fairmont Château
• Ski or Snowboard 🏂
• Slip on patches of slick ice
• Take 600 photos in the spot I’m standing in until no one is in it 📷
• Tempt fate & jump as hard as you can on an exposed circle of ice surrounded by piles of snow
• Run into the forest to cast winter spells on your enemies
• Generally, have a blast

So what would YOU do while here? ☺️

INTRODUCTION ✨ BLOGGER EDITION

Hello ...

Open
INTRODUCTION ✨ BLOGGER EDITION

Hello friends, old & new! Thank you for being here with me. I figured it’s a good time to share what you can expect from me, in relation to blogging :clears throat:

✨ I studied Multimedia Communications & Journalism. I don’t really talk about that much, because I don’t think you need to go to school to create meaningful, creative media or to be a compelling storyteller. I’d say one of the biggest things I got out of studying journalism was understanding the vitalness of accuracy, fairness, objectivity & truthfulness when delivering information in a professional scope.

✨ The mission of my blog is to help others broaden their horizons and enrich their lives through travel by delivering factual information, laced with a bit of my personal experiences, that is relevant to helping you make informed decisions about where you’d like to go, stay, dine and adventure because your time and hard earned money is too precious to waste, darling!

✨ Please know, that everywhere I write about, post about or blab on about LOVING is unsponsored and completely my own thoughts about activities or stays I’ve paid for, UNLESS I’ve clearly, plainly and directly indicated otherwise (which I will 😉)

✨ I currently make the bulk of my income freelance writing/copywriting for brands and (mainly small) businesses. I don’t think many people realize blogs are not cheap to run by any means & one of the biggest ways bloggers are able to monetize their efforts to at least recoup the cost of providing free information to others, is by affiliate sales. So if you ever find a bloggers post or article helpful, consider making a purchase through their links that you were likely going to make anyway (even if it isn’t me!🥰It honestly means the world 🌎 & is so appreciated.

✨I chose this picture, because my absolute favorite place on earth is underwater! Serene, peaceful, beautiful.

What about you? What or where are your favorite places? Also… where are you from? I’m so curious! ☺️

JOLLY 2023, from CALGARY! 🇨🇦

JOLLY 2023, from CALGARY! 🇨🇦

Canada, eh?

Besides a brief stint in Ontario many years ago, I haven’t explored Canada too much despite being next door neighbors!

So what brings me to Calgary? Well, it’s a first stop on the way to my next destination, but I’ve truly had the most enjoyable 48 hours here.

I didn’t know much about Calgary prior to my arrival, but come to find out that it is a vibrantly diverse and delightfully multicultural city, which is always a vibe I love✨

I’ve ‘Tim Horton’d’ for the first time and have, of course, been on the prowl for any local must- experience cuisine.

Have you been to Canada? What part? Canadian pals, are there any must try foodie finds that must be discovered? 🍁
