If you’re lucky enough to be headed to the gorgeous isle of St Lucia, you’re probably wondering where to stay. There are so many luxurious and opulent resorts on St Lucia, how does one decide? It’s a tough choice. However, here is a Ti Kaye Resort & Spa review and guide to help make the decision a little less challenging. Your stay can and likely will be a big part of your experience in St Lucia. For many reasons, Ti Kaye is a dreamy tropical escape, worthy of your bucket list. Lodging type: ★★★★ Adults only, Luxury Beachfront Boutique Resort Ti Kaye means “Little House” Here’s a unique thing about St Lucia. What sets St Lucia apart from other islands, specifically in the Caribbean, is it’s very hilly. In fact, you’ll drive up a rather steep, winding mountain road, surrounded by lush natural beauty to arrive at Ti Kaye Resort and Spa at the top. So in terms of location, I would not consider Ti Kaye Resort “centrally” located – per se. For example, you won’t be able to easily leave the resort and head out on foot to grab food somewhere. However, the good news is everything you could ever want or need is at the property. Excellent food, a gorgeous private beach, boats, an incredible spa and more. It’s on a hill top in Anse La Raye. However, if you consider the island as a whole, the resort, while on the coastline, is in the middle of many points of interest. For example, it’s just north of the Pitons (the iconic volcanos that you can hike) and just south of the capital, Castries. While St Lucia is not a huge island (it’s 27 miles long and 14 miles wide), you’ll definitely need some sort of transportation to get around. Luckily, in St Lucia getting around via boat is almost as easy, if not easier, than by vehicle. We saw the Pitons by car and by boat and both were beautiful sights to behold. Because Ti Kaye Resort and Spa is more of a destination accommodation, you can expect it to be well equipped. Meaning, if you didn’t want to, you’d never have to leave the resort! There are multiple on site restaurants and dining areas, plus an entire room service menu A world class cliffside spa with unbelievable views of Anse Cochon Cove Secluded, private beach for resort guests only A bar and wine cellar, including an option for a wine tasting activity The option for a wide array of beach and water activities and sports, diving and boating It really must be said immediately how excellent the staff at Ti Kaye Resort and spa are. Upon arrival, they assist with your bags, greet you warmly and bring you a welcome drink. They encourage you to relax in the main waiting area, while enjoying your drink. All of the accommodations at Ti Kaye are cottages. There are three categories to choose from: Ocean View Rooms – this is the standard room, aka the least expensive category. They are “duplex” style and so you will have a neighbor next door. The cottages are connected via a locked door on the deck, but entirely separate otherwise. This might also be a great option for groups or (adult) families who want to stay next to each other, but have a bit of separation, as you can unlock the door that separates the two decks. Ocean View Cottage – cliffside private cottages, priced a bit lower than the cottages with the private plunge pool Ocean View Cottage with Pool – most private cliffside cottages with best views, largest private deck and each cottage is equipped with its own private plunge pool. I can’t emphasize enough, that if it means a lot to you to stay in the Ocean View Cottage with a pool, you should reserve your stay as soon as possible. Whether or not it is worth it to spring for the more expensive cottages will depend on what you value. For me, I appreciate the extra privacy and space this category of accommodation provides. While all the cottages have a pair of hammocks and rocking chairs on the deck, this is the only category that has a private plunge pool. Having this to relax in and enjoy the view was beyond worth it to me. However, you’ll have to decide if this is something that is worth it to you. The Ocean View Cottage with pool also had a large walk in closet and a desk with chair to work at inside the cottage. Ti Kaye is aiming for a run with bare feet, rustic feel while not compromising comfort amenities. I think they achieved this well! Tip: all the cottages at Ti Kaye Resort & Spa come with an outdoor shower! It is really so cool. Especially at night, it’s such an experience gazing up at the moon and stars while showering and feeling the warm breeze on your cheeks. It’s also equipped with toiletries. Don’t worry, although bugs are a possibilities, I didn’t have any negative encounters! I can’t emphasize enough how safe it feels and is at Ti Kaye Resort and Spa. Generally, the island of St Lucia has a serene and safe feel to it collectively. The resort has 24 hour security, often roaming the grounds and posted at key areas (the beach for example). There is also a safe located in the walk in closet of every cottage. On our first night in Saint Lucia, we were a bit tired from traveling so we decided it would be a room service night. Even though it was the tail end of dinner service for the night, they so graciously wanted to make sure we ate. I absolutely commend the staff at Ti Kaye Resort and Spa. They carry these heavy room service trays up steep inclines and loads of stairs and set it all up for you on your veranda so you can enjoy dinner with Seaview. You can start your day on a tasty note, with a fresh, healthy breakfast from Ti Kaye resort. Continental breakfast is included in your stay, for all Guests. This includes your choice from an assortment of fresh juices, French press coffee and a variety of teas. Additionally, there is a variety of house made baked goods, muffins, pastries, breads that you can accompany with house made jams, compotes and St Lucian honey and cream cheese. Further, you can fuel up with sliced meats, cheeses, St Lucian yogurt and top it with a variety of dried fruits, nuts and granola. Tip: If you are not on the “full board” or “half board” meal plan, you can always order a la carte, alongside the continental breakfast. If you are feeling indulgent, try the Coconut Rum pancakes ($8USD). The food at Ti Kaye Resort & Spa is elegant restaurant quality. The portions are just right, as well. The cuisine at Kai Manje Restaurant is Creole inspired. The chef’s want to bring their guests authentic Saint Lucian food, with an international flare. As such, you’ll find a nice variety of options on the menu. As we would be celebrating our wedding anniversary during our time in Saint Lucia, the staff set up this amazing private table by the pool for us. It was such an amazing experience, romantic ambiance and great night. As a complete coincidence, on the night of our anniversary, Kai Manje restaurant was serving their signature six course tasting menu, complete with a shot of rum at the very end (7th course?). It was magnificent and such a great value ($45USD per person). Tip: if you are celebrating a special moment, event or occasion, you can request the restaurant to set you up a private table by the pool. It’s no extra charge, but there are no guarantees it will be available if you don’t set it up in advance. The pool area is where the musicians perform, so it makes it extra special! This is the casual beachside restaurant where you can grab a wood fired pizza for lunch (they have an extensive pizza menu). You can also satiate your hunger with a calzone, a variety of appetizers, sandwiches or burgers. This is an ideal setting and menu for a quick lunch while having a beach day. Tip: we decided to pay for food a la carte (as in pay for the things we order when we check out) versus opting for an all inclusive package. If you know you don’t plan to leave the resort much other than hotel hosted excursions then purchasing a meal plan could be a great option for you. I knew we would want to venture out to some local restaurants and focus on the complimentary breakfast and having a nice dinner, so we opted to not do a meal plan as that made the most sense, budget wise, for our needs. When I return to Saint Lucia, I wouldn’t even dream of working with any other team than Island Divers. Lester, the manager and boat captain is so communicative, accommodating and professional. Danihill, the dive instructor is incredible kind, patient, attentive and encouraging. I completed my PADI Advanced Scuba Diving certification and went on a variety of dives with the Island Divers team. We saw amazing reef, marine life, we did a drift dive, deep sea dive to a ship wreck, and I also did my first night dive. The water, marine diversity and diving is incredible in Saint Lucia! I would classify Ti Kaye resort’s spa as a do not miss. Even if I wasn’t staying at Ti Kaye, I’d likely make a special visit to the spa when in St Lucia again. Despite the spa being on the relatively smaller side, it is very clean. Altogether, a nice environment with spectacular views. At the time of my visit, one service provider was working. They seem to really space out the appointments due to the size of the spa. However, of course, it’ll depend what season you visit, how full the resort is and the day and time you make an appointment for. Not only is the atmosphere serene and soothing, but the services are top tier. My massage therapist was very laid back, calming, attentive and gave an exquisite massage. Upon arrival, you are offered a drink of your choice. The lovely service provider even offered my husband a drink, even though it was only myself receiving services. There are a couple different waiting areas within the spa. Of course, the best place to wait is in the spa pool… the best view in the house. While relaxing in the whirlpool, I was offered champagne. Certainly, an impressive atmosphere counts for something, but what really matters is the services. Altogether, my experience was beyond wonderful. I received the 60 minute Relaxation Massage ($115 USD) and the Sweet Surrender Chocolate Wrap ($165 USD) – which is a 90 minute service. The Chocolate wrap is as decadent as it sounds. First, comes the chocolate face mask. Then, a head to toe chocolate scrub and full head massage. The aroma of the chocolate scrub and mask is just divine. Afterward, you’ll shower in the private stone shower stall, right in the therapy room, with a view of the Caribbean Sea. It would be remiss of me not to mention that Ti Kaye Resort and Spa is on very hill terrain. There are lots of stairs – some at times lengthy and steep. This is important to note in case that would be a hindrance. Particularly, there was a lot of stairs from the resort to the private beach, but since my visit, Ti Kaye Resort and Spa has built a fun funicular. Ti Kaye Resort and Spa, while a beautiful luxury stay experience is not inexpensive. Depending on your meals, experiences and activities, you could have a sizable bill upon check out. The bulk of your bill will be the nightly rate for your cottage and any extra services or activities you do. The food is very fairly priced – in comparison to regular meals in most major cities and dining out at a moderately priced nice restaurant. This resort has won multiple awards, from Trip Advisor to Condé Nast, to Wine Spectator and more. From my experience, it deserves every single accolade!
